P3: “A Picture from the Past”

Good morning 4th! Ready to work hard?

Let´s think in advance of our EXCHANGE TIME at Meet!💡

ORAL DEBATE:

When someone discovers an important item from the past, who should it belong to? Why?

Today´s objective: Author´s Purpose

(Open your Oxford books on page 29)

Every author has a purpose, or reason, for writing. There are three main purposes.

  1. PERSUADE: To make you believe or do something

  2. INFORM: To give you information or facts

  3. ENTERTAIN: To make you enjoy the story

Activity 1: Now you can understand the purpose of a piece of writing.

Circle the author´s purpose for each paragraph on page 29 (D) from your Oxford Student Book.

Activity 2: Open the interactive worksheet below, there you will find an article called “The Roman Fort of Hermeskeil” and you will find two short activities to complete.
